Mikey Espinosa - Buildings in Kingston

Hello, long time no see! What a crazy five years it has been am I right? I'm still creating art work but I've had a few exhibitions since I last updated this! But for now I've been collaborating a lot with the Korean community in Kingston and it's such a joy to see how the community have integrated with British culture. I painted a few things that stood out to me.

One of the first places you notice when you exit New Malden Station is Seoul Plaza, KoreafoodsUK. Opposite the road is a cafe called Bingsoo cafe. Bingsoo is a traditional Korean dessert that is known for it's shaved ice, topped with fruits or red bean. The modernised version uses a machine that creates more of a snow like texture and instead of shaved ice, the modern recipe uses shaved condense milk.
When I came back to London I missed it so much, the only unfortunate thing is that it's so far for me to get to from where I live in the UK. Above the restaurant is a cute clothes store and a Japanese restaurant.
The next place is Rose Theatre located in Kingston itself. It is located on Kingston Highstreet and has been home to many events and shows. An image of my business partner Hangukhapa and I, wearing modern Hanbok designed by Sheen:Seoul was displayed. The event was to celebrate the many different clothes from the cultures that live within Kingston!

The final painting I did was of a store in Kingston High street that shows the combination of both modern and traditional architecture! I wanted to capture that combination.
